CAMERA SHOT

Still a work in progress, but felt it was close enough to post.  The camera belonged to my father and I suppose it is from the mid 1950's.  The shot glass is from my partying college days at Ohio University.

Toy Firetruck

My grandmother bought me a toy firetruck when I was about 5 and I've kept it as a prize possession all these years.  That baseball was signed by Braves pitcher, Phil Neikro and the soldier was purchased in Savannah.

Tea Cup

I was looking for a companion still life to go with the Apple Orange piece I did a few months earlier. I pulled out this antique tea cup that I bought a few years ago with a folded tea towel and silver spoon on our granite counter. This had some tedious fine detail, but I enjoyed working on it.

SixMile Sunset

This is a view on Lake Lanier looking west from the sister islands into Six Mile on a warm summer evening, close to sunset. It's only November, but I'm already looking forward to spring.

Browns Bridge over Lake Lanier

I have always been fascinated with these big steel bridges. This one was built around 1954 and spans Lake Lanier on Hwy 369 at mid-lake The view is looking Northeast towards Gainesville, Georgia. I always toot my horn while taking my boat under it. When I was a kid, my dad always gave a short beep as we went over a bridge or through a tunnel. Not sure why, but we always got a big kick out of it . . . my kids smiled too, but probably cause they thought I'm goofy.

Apple and Orange

It seemed time for something different so thought I would do a still life. I enjoyed the break from my other subjects. I've already started two other paintings, but would like to do another series of these soon.

Sailboat on Golden Afternoon

I had my boat out on Lake Lanier late one Sunday evening after dinner and came upon this sailboat. It was a little windy and choppy for that time of day and still seemed a little unusual to see someone under sail in between the islands. At that time, many of the other boats were heading back to their docks. The view is looking south, near Two Mile Creek.

Cara & Papa on the Beach

Cara and I were drawing in the sand with our toes early in the morning, just outside Panama City Beach Florida in 2009.  A tropical storm past during the night before and it was still quite windy and overcast.

Playing in the sand

This is a small painting I was working on in September 2010.  There was a tropical storm offshore and the sky was funky. Reminded me of "castles in the sky".  I always enjoy being near the ocean and as they say, any day on the beach is still better than anywhere else.      6"x8" Oil on board

Sailing Near Two Mile

Nothing more peaceful than watching the sailboats out on Lake Lanier. This scene is from out on Two Mile Park looking Northeast. I've sailed on small sunfish as a kid, but never got around to learning how to be a real sailor. Not enough time and too cheap to take the lessons I guess.
